book & movie

I was thrilled to read this book Viveca Sten (La reine de la Baltique /  I de lugnaste vatten) because the story takes place on Sandhamn island where I went last May. Reading the book, I recognized a lot of places where I walked... fun! This detective novel was very nice, you can read it ;)

Initially, I was not very excited to see this french movie ("Les garçons et Guillaume, à table"). But many people said it was a very good movie so I went. I have no regrets because I had a great time. This film is full of emotion, laughter and modesty too.

This evening

We started to put candles everywhere in the house. Next week, the Christmas tree.
I wanted to put a reindeer, deer or elk in the middle of the mini forest on fireplace but there was none among the toys my daughter. So we chose a wolf .... after hesitating with a dinosaur ... mood of Christmas ... :)

Batcat

A picture that my father made after seeing the photos of Yumi in the latest post.
The last picture made him smile and inspired him too.
Now we have Batcat alias Yumi ... or vice versa! Thanks dad ;D

see & read

It's the best way to really live 1:30 in space without taking any risk ... phew! ...
Sure, nobody wants to become a cosmonaut after seeing this movie :) especially me ... :)
A very good movie with just two actors.

Now, change of atmosphere regarding the books.
I loved the book by Philippe Delerm ("Sundborn ou les jours de lumière") telling the story of Scandinavian painters (late XIX and early XX century) through a young man who frequents them. The book talks about their lifestyle, their ideals, their families. Details regarding Carl Larsson and his family interested me. I would visit the home of this painter one day which is located in Sundborn, not far from Falun northwest of Stockholm. By visiting this house, we must have the impression to walk into the paintings of Carl Larsson.

The second book of Anne B Ragde tells a story of complex family of 3 generations occurring in Denmark and Norway. This author is a specialist in family stories: maybe you read the Neshov family trilogy (very good books)? A complex family too!...

outdated sewing

" The orange fabric with birds, okay, but the floral fabrics is outdated. This is a grandma cushion! "
This is what my daughter and my husband told me when (very proud of myself) I showed them the cushion that I had just sewing ....
Ok, this cushion will be just mine :(

Corner view / favorite clothes [ of the day ]

Yesterday I was in Paris for work and just before taking my train to back home, I went shopping at Uniqlo. I found lots of stuff that I "really" need ... And today, I'm wearing 2 clothes I bought yesterday: striped leggings and a t-shirt with Orla Kiely patterns ... perfect with my black dress ;)
So this is my favorite clothes of the day :)

Kew gardens / 1

We spent a day at Kew Gardens in July when we were in London. This large park is located west of London and we can go by subway (District Line). It was a good place to get some fresh air and see fantastic old greenhouses.
More pictures of this place in coming posts.

Eventing

Sorry for those who do not particularly like horses ... ;)

Last Sunday, we went to see a eventing near Saumur. For those who don't know this sport, this competition consists of three parts: dressage, show jumping and cross country. Sunday there was the cross country (about 4 km) in a beautiful place. There was the best French riders (some have participated in the Olympics).
I was impressed with their technique and speed. The horses are amazing, they are not afraid of anything! There was few falls ... luckily because I was afraid to see them ...

At the end of the day, my daughter who loved seeing this competition told me: Mum, I will never do eventing!

Ok girl, no problem for me ;)

flea market

Last weekend, I found a metal basket and two crystal glasses at the flea market near my home. Maybe I'll repaint the basket in black (it's now dark green) ... I don't know. Today, the weather is gray and very rainy, candles bring a little light. I nevertheless succeeded in pick laurel to dry and enjoy it during the winter when I'll cook.
Cool...it's friday...a long 3 days off weekend :)

books

1 ***
A strange and good story.

2 **
After reading a few pages of the Martin Suter's book, I wanted to stop because it doesn't really interest me. I continued a bit and I finally enjoyed this book.

3 ****
This is volume 3 of this series of Camilla Läckberg. I confess that I read it very quickly, as the previous two :)

4 *****
This is the second book by this author I read. I loved it again. This book is full of poetry and harshness. This is the sequel to the first novel "Entre ciel et terre / Heaven and Earth."

Have a nice day!

Here is one of my favorite red wines: Chinon. And as luck, it's a wine of my region ;)
To learn a little more about Chinon, it's here.

Movie(s)

These last two weeks we went to the cinema several times.

The first film is a little crazy comedy with a french actor I like (Albert Dupontel...a crazy guy too).

We went to see the other two movies with my daughter. "Sur le chemin de l'école / On the way to school", shows us how to go to school can be very complicated in some countries. And how some of us are lucky! I want my daughter to see these children who have living areas and way of life so different from ours. The four children who are filmed live in Kenya, Morocco, India and Argentina.

The third movie  "Ma maman est en Amérique.../ My mom is in America, she met Buffalo Bill" is a touching and delicate cartoon.

Except "On the way to school" I'm not sure these films will cross the french border.
